Architects Serving the Community
Founded by the Washington Chapter of the American Institute of Architects in 1988, the Washington Architectural Foundation's mission is architects serving the community. Whether it's enriching the learning experience of children through Architecture in the Schools, giving nonprofits free design services through Community Design Services, or helping to end hunger through the CANstruction program, the Foundation leverages its modest budget to help a region-wide community.

Through its many programs the Washington Architectural Foundation demonstrates how design improves the quality of life for everyone in the Greater Washington Metropolitan region. We strengthen our community with architectural education enrichment programs in public and private school classrooms. We work with nonprofit organizations to help them realize their visions. We empower people, young and old, to become advocates for good design in their community.
